How to win at Tap Defense for iPhone

Update Dec/08: This strategy is even easier now that you can upgrade your arrow towers to level 4.

Tap Defense is a tricky game at first, but once you understand a few things - it's actually very easy. The game is most difficult in the first 20-30 levels when you don't have much gold and are limited in terms of what you can build. Because of this it is really important that you limit your spending as much as possible. I have used these pointers on easy/medium & hard and can beat the game on any difficulty now:

1. In the beginning, build only arrow towers
2. Never build so much in one level that you run out of gold
3. With each new level, you should actually have more gold than you did the previous level. If you don't, you are spending too much
4. Don't upgrade arrow towers until you have most of the map covered
5. Use your first 4 halos on interest upgrades
6. After you get the 2nd interest upgrade, focus on upgrading arrow towers until you can get a halo to research the ice tower
7. Build at least 4 ice towers near the beginning of the road, staggered 1 or 2 spots (don't put them all beside each other)
8. Upgrade ice towers to level 2 asap
9. Use next halo to research the storm tower & start replacing arrow towers near the beginning (they should be beside the ice towers). Aim to have about 4 of them full upgraded asap
10. Continue to make sure your gold is increasing each level

By the time you get 3-4 fully upgraded storm towers, you will notice things are ridiculously easy and you can basically cruise to level 43 (the end of the game).

Dude, thanks... I guess I'm cheating with this but I could not get past level 38 and this worked like a charm..

Well, I tried this and soon got the hang of it. Instead of buying lots of Arrow Towers, I take 5 of them to Lvl 3. They do a good job of annihilating everything until about level 20.

Thanks for the tips.

It did helped me to pass the easy and medium level but i couldnt pass the hard one.

Where do you place your towers at the beginning?

This is not the best method at all. 3-4 Storm towers is stupid and they do not work (lv3). all you need to do is build cannons and save your gold. one cannon and one arrow on lvl 1 is sufficient to win that and a few lvls after it. once you have 2 lvl 3 cannons and 2 lvl 1 ice, you can keep acruing interest and getting large sums of money. by lvl 23 if you are good enough liek me you can have the 2500 gold for lvl 3 earthquake. sell everything and build ice all around it. with the earthquake hitting 2000s and half the map as range, you can easily beat the game. it is just the matter of saving your interest so you gain 200+ gold per lvl you beat.

I think this is how Tap Master meant to put it.

Thanks very much for the walkthrough! Worked like a charm! It took some figuring out but after a while it worked. I'm going to try it on the medium and hard levels.

A different method is upgrading your arrow towers, and when there is only one enemy left sell all but one so you have more money and take advantage of the interest rate.

December 14, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterJack

Jack: With the latest release of Tap Defense the sell-value of towers has dropped from $108 to $59. That was a brilliant bug in the game! Shame we lost it!

Definitely have to make saving gold a priority. If you upgrade the interest rate instead of researching new towers it's not really that hard to finish on the highest difficulty level.

i must suck cuz i got to level 30 using his tactics if anyone could make and send a video of how to beat it that would be awesome

Great great great tip's, normally I was stuck on level 30. Now I ended the game with more then 20k of gold, that earthquake is very nice.
thanks.

Technically this strategy works....... but I have an alternate strategy that will save all your coins, ("Jew Strategy") 1) get to the highest level you can without lossing any money or letting anyone in..... 2) pick up all items except for 2 arrows (place them strategiacally) 3) pause the game 4) turn the game off. 5) turn the game back on in exactly 4.32 hours. the enimies will be fozen and your 2 arrow towers will kill them and you will get more coin.... repeat this for every level from this point on..... all together it will take about 4 and a half days, but it is clearly worth the trouble (and the money is good :) ) after the 4.5 days you will have sufficient funding to continue on your quest to prevail the evil forces of the hell gates (hellcats, succubus's, locusts, cerrubus's, etc.) your welcome and comment back on the successes :D

How are players getting huge point amounts as shown in the network scores?
6K is about my max

First Tap Master your a doucher. Second thanks for the tip, it helped. I'm working on hard right now, but I found a nice little glitch. Start a game on easy play for a little then go to the main menu and start a game on a different difficulty and go to research, it should say (null)(null) by it and it is free. on hard you can start at 20% interest right away. I don't know if its a "glitch" or if thats how the game is, but maybe it'll help you guys out. Tap Master likes to lick sheep but-holes after he masturbates into cans of tuna fish using his mothers shit as lube for his 3 and a half inch excuse of a penis.

Worked like a charm first time a tried it! Thanks

The "Jew Method"--ru serious? That 's so racist!

Anyway, I was able to beat easy and medium by simply placing my towers at the most strategically advantageos locations and upgraded wisely. This method is more fun because that's the way the game was intended to be played. I don't see. If I could do screen shots I would show you. It took me 8 tries but once I optimize location and proper towers I was able to beat the game on easy and medium (medium on 2nd try) without losing a single life.

I am only posting this to let you know it's possible to win without any cheesy cheats.

Just got done beating all 43 levels on easy, medium and hard. All about patience and saving as much money as possible. Have just enough on the trail to barely kill the bad guys and save the rest. Hard to resist overkill. Go for the 25% interest with your first 4 halos. Then ice then storm and place them next to each other at strategic locations. Overall I had about 60% arrows, 20% tanks, 10% ice and 10% storm. Also...you can place arrows two rows deep and they still work. Don't just stop at one row deep. I used the same strategy for all 3 difficulty levels and it worked on all 3.

Awesome game!!! My favorite so far.

this worked like a charm, nad i ended it with 38k too bad u can only build one earthquake... it starts helping a lot from lvl 38-43 try to make the storms and ice fit in the first square this way XZXZ ZXZX that will pwn over everything

December 25, 2008 | Unregistered Commenterme

I worked the Arrows only and followed the plan. I built 7 Storm towers and 5 Ice. I had 6 wings left and had 398K in gold and 83K points. I've tried to duplicate again, but I'm only getting up to 150K gold and 26K points. Keep trying.
