Building a following online

Wine Library TV is a fun podcast i recently discovered. Gary Vaynerchuk (host) is hilarious and seems like he is working on his 10th cup of coffee most of the time. However, in all seriousness it’s pretty educational. In an episode from last week he made a comment about my ‘goto wine’ Yellow Tail that seemed to imply it was crap. So, i hit him up on Facebook about it and here’s what he had to say:

The answer itself isn’t earth shattering but i thought it was interesting that he is responding to his fans. The genius of what he is doing is making his audience feel connected with him. In fact if you look at his site you’ll see links to almost every social network that exists with links to ‘friend him up’. He knows that the perceived connection it creates can help him keep people tuned in and spreading the word about his show…kind of like this blog post.

Since nobody in a position of power ‘gets it’, or has any interest in attempting to get it (or sell products for that matter apparently) i have to move on. The whole thing reminds me of this great scene from Back to the Future, which i think actually sums up my time at ‘the company’:

El oh el. Seriously though, for a real list of reasons why i’m leaving, read this post.
